MEET TARA

Hello
For as long as I can remember, I have been obsessed with seeing the world. I grew up in a village in the Irish countryside, and although that has its own charm, I always dreamed of exploring the world. But like most people that dream was overshadowed by college and eventually rigid office jobs. For most of my 20’s the furthest I got from my village was Dublin.
I never really knew what I wanted to do, I just went with the flow hoping I’d find something that would stick. And although I’ve had jobs I enjoyed, nothing really set my soul on fire. I would often hear my friends talk about their careers with such passion that I was lacking.
After COVID, emboldened by my savings and weary from lost years in lockdown my boyfriend and I booked a one-way flight to Lisbon. Initially planning a 9 month trip around Europe and Asia. We travelled around Portugal, Spain, and Italy, hitting a few random cities like Istanbul and Skopje whenever we found good flight deals. We then spent the following 3 years in Asia, exploring places like Vietnam, Thailand, Bali, Japan, Korea, Taiwan.
These few years have been incredible. I have really got to immerse myself in countries I never even thought I’d visit. It’s been humbling, fun, difficult and at times scary. I’ve also learned that no matter where I am in the world, I will find a bottle of fake tan, seriously, it’s quite a skill I’ve acquired.
ABOUT THE BLOG
This blog was created in 2022 when the blogging space was a bit more easy to manage (Google Updates are my worst enemy). I felt many guides were wrote for Google and often almost a copy and paste of other. I wanted to create a helpful place, sharing tips, cafes and restaurants along the way. I am a BIG foodie btw.
I am not a writer, I am no Anthony Bourdain, but I do hope I can inspire some people to travel. I have so much more of the world I want to see and hopefully this website can fund some of it.
My favourite things to do are hiking, cooking, going for coffee and reading a psych thriller (preferably on the beach). Yes, I know, I am painfully average. Oh, I also love hats!
