Deciding if you should add the Busan Sky Capsule at Haeundae Blueline Park? This guide has all the information you need, along with my experience, so you know all the insider tips on Busan’s top attraction

Planning to ride the Busan Sky Capsule? You’re probably wondering which station to start from, how far in advance to book and if the coveted sunset slots are worth the hassle. After living beside the Sky Capsules in Haeundae for 2 months, I saw them almost everyday, I dealt with the frustrating booking process and now I’m sharing everything you need to know to make your experience smooth.
Located in the coastal city of Haeundae, Busan Sky Capsule, also known as Blueline Sky Capsule Park and Mipo Sky Capsule, is hands down one of the best and most memorable things to do during your South Korea trip.
Busan Sky Capsules take you on a dreamy journey between Haeundae and Cheongsapo on an elevated platform with coastal, forest and city views. If that’s not reason enough to visit, the area that the Sky Capsule travels has observatory platforms, twin lighthouses, and a famous pine tree moon trail, which I outline in further detail below.

About Busan Sky Capsules

This iconic Korean attraction draws over 2 million visitors each year.
Busan Sky Capsules travel 2 km above ground, at a distance of 2.3 km and a speed of 4 km per hour (not exactly fast and furious but fun nevertheless), with the entire journey lasting about 20 minutes. The ride is relaxing, peaceful and surrounded by scenic views.
The capsules are comfortable with large windows, a small table and most importantly, air conditioning. They come in many different colours including yellow, pink, blue and some even have some quirky cartoon characters painted on them. You cannot choose what colour your capsule is, but it doesn’t matter as they are all the same inside.
And, for anyone afraid of heights please don’t worry, the sky capsules are not scary, you go very slowly along a wide track.
👍 A T-MONEY card is the easiest way to pay for transport in South Korea. You can top them up at ticket machines in metro stations and at convenience stores.
Busan Sky Capsule Route

The Sky Capsules have two routes:
- Haeundae’s Mipo Station to Cheongsapo Station (no city view but still pretty)
- Cheongsapo Station to Haeundae’s Mipo Station (view of Haeundae in the distance)
The journey is ONE-WAY, it does not go on a loop.
If you start at Mipo station you will need to get off at Cheongsapo station, you cannot stay in the capsule and go back to Mipo station.
Both routes are the same passing by the newly opened observatory platform, the pine forest Moontan Road and the skywalk below you.
You can also get a beach train which goes from Mipo station, Cheongsapo station and Songjeong station.
So What Route Is Best?
Generally, Cheongsapo to Mipo is considered the most scenic route on the sky capsule, specifically at sunset.
BUT, these tickets can be difficult to get your hands on and to be honest, I wouldn’t stress too much about the direction as you can look out behind you and still see the same view.
We rode from Mipo to Cheongsapo and honestly, both directions offer beautiful views, you can always look behind you or stand up to see the skyline. If you can only get tickets for one direction, don’t stress. The walk back along the boardwalk is stunning and free!
What you really should consider is what you would like to do afterwards. I actually think it is better to start in Mipo Station, explore Cheongsapo after the sky capsule ride and then walk back to Haeundae on the boardwalk skywalk trail. You could also take the sky train from Cheongsapo to Seongjong Beach (the 3rd most popular beach in Busan), look around and then take the sky train back to Cheongsapo to walk back. What a day!

Busan Sky Capsule Tickets
Buying tickets for the Sky Capsules is probably not as easy as you think. But, I have a few tips to help you secure them!
Each Sky Capsule departure time period is 30 minutes. For example, a reservation for the 11:00 – 11:30 slot does not mean it departs at 11:00 and arrives at 11:30. Instead, it means that the Sky Capsule boarding time is between 11:00 – 11:30. If you arrive after this time you run the risk of being denied entry.
For any solo travellers out there, you cannot purchase a single ticket for the Busan Sky Capsule, the minimum is a 2 person ticket. This kind of sucks if you are on your own as it works out expensive but on the bright side you will have an entire capsule to yourself. Which, let’s be honest, is nicer than being packed in with strangers (cable cars I’m looking at you!). I loved not sharing the capsule, it made the ride more enjoyable.
You can also combine the sky capsules and the beach train. This is an easy way to get back to your starting point. I explain the beach train a little further down but these are the prices:
Sky Capsule Ticket Prices:
- 2 person capsule: 40,000 KRW ($27 / €23)
- 3 person capsule: 45,000 KRW ($30 / €26)
- 4 person capsule: 50,000 KRW ($34 / €29)
Combo Tickets (Sky Capsule + Beach Train):
- 2 person: 65,000 KRW ($44 / €38)
- 3 person: 78,000 KRW ($53 / €45)
- 4 person: 94,000 KRW ($64 / €55)

How To Purchase Busan Sky Capsule Tickets
1. Book Directly (best option)
The best way to book Busan Sky Capsule tickets is to do it directly through the official Blueline Park website, you can book 4 weeks in advance which gives you plenty of time slots to choose from and the cancellation policy is excellent.
Unfortunately, the official website is frustrating and left us wanting to throw our laptop out the window.
We spent nearly 20 minutes carefully filling out their booking form, triple-checking every detail. When we finally hit submit, our payment was declined. We tried two more credit cards, same result. The website gave us a generic error message with no explanation. After wasting almost an hour, we gave up and found an easier solutions (option 2 + 3 below).
Some people have better luck using a mobile browser instead of desktop, though we only found this out afterwards and success seems inconsistent. If you do manage to book successfully, you’ll save under $1 per person compared to third-party platforms.
Online reservations open on Tuesdays, exactly 4 weeks before your intended visit date. If you want a sunset slot (especially from Mipo to Cheongsapo), you’ll need to book the moment reservations open as these sell out almost immediately.
The cancellation policy is also good if you book directly.
- 3 days: 100%
- 2 days: 80%
- 1 day: 70%
- The day of the reservation: 50%
2. Klook (complicated)
For those with foreign payment cards that have been rejected on the official site then Klook offers an alternative. However, Most blogs will tell you Klook is the easiest option with “instant confirmation.” After reading through dozens of reviews and trying it ourselves, I need to be honest: it’s not that simple.
You are purchasing a voucher that you redeem on the Blueline Park website, you bypass the payment screen but you need to reserve your booking slot again. Without this, your Klook ticket will not be accepted.
When you have your Klook voucher code you need to visit the official website reservation page, choose your date and time slot, then when paying you select gift card in the dropdown and enter your Klook voucher code.
It’s important to note that Klook does not offer refunds or amendments to your booking. This means that if you can’t redeem your voucher because your time slot is no longer available on the Blueline Park website you won’t get your money back. So you will be taking a risk.
Also, it appears that only 2 seater capsules are sold here, so 3 – 4 seater capsules will need to be booked elsewhere.
So if you’re good with limited availability, don’t need tickets immediately and don’t mind the no refund policy then this can be an excellent option. But for sunset slots or last minute bookings, you’ll need to try the other options on the list.

3. Go To The Ticket Office (risky)
A slightly risky alternative to booking online is to go directly to Mipo or Cheongsapo station. A small number of tickets are reserved daily for anyone looking to purchase tickets on the day, but you need to purchase these early, around 1-2 hours from the park’s opening time.
Purchase the tickets from the ticket machines, not from the ticket office. There will be people queuing to talk to someone in the ticket office, make sure you are queuing for the machines.

There are a few things to note with this option:
- Sunset time slots are nearly impossible to get same-day, especially in peak season
- Mipo Station (the more popular departure point) sells out faster than Cheongsapo.
- Weekend and holiday availability is extremely limited
- If you have your heart set on a specific time or have a tight schedule, this method is too risky
This option is best for travellers with flexible schedules who won’t be disappointed if tickets are sold out. We weren’t fussed about timing, so this worked perfectly for us. But if you’re planning your day around a sunset ride or only have one shot at this activity, skip this method and book in advance through their website or with Klook.
If you have to wait around for your time slot there is Cafe Mignon at the station with a wide selection of tarts but there are better cafes nearby.
Just a 3 minute walk is the cafe Edge 993 where you can get delicious pastries and enjoy the rooftop seating that overlooks the ocean. Alternatively, TIDE Coffee Roasters has incredible speciality coffee with a sleek interior.
4. Book via a Day Tour (no flexibility)
Another option is to purchase the tickets as part of a tour that will take you to other nearby locations. For anyone staying in Busan or just staying in Busan for a short period this can be the perfect way to see lots of the coast in just one day.
The downside is that you won’t have control over your day, your schedule will be pretty tight. However, you are guaranteed a ticket on the sky capsules.
These are some of the best Busan tours that include the sky capsules:
- Busan Highlight City Tour: choose from a large variety of attractions including Gamecheon Culture Village, Skywalk, Songdo Cable Car, Jagalchi Market and Haedong Yonggungsa Temple.
- Seven Bridges Tour: Sky Capsules, Gamecheon Culture Village, Haedong Yonggungsa Temple + Yacht tour at sunset
- Highlight Photo Spots Day Tour: Visit all of Busan’s photogenic locations including Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, Daritdol Observatory, Gamcheon, Lavalse Sky Cafe + a yacht tour.
Summary Of Busan Sky Capsule Ticket Options

Haeundae Beach Train

The Haeundae Beach Train is a retro-style train that goes under the elevated sky capsule track from Mipo to Cheongsopa and Seongjong. It looks like a larges sky capsule.
The seats face out to the ocean for a scenic and panoramic train ride. The train runs 3 times per hour, and a single journey from Mipo to Seongjong lasts 25 minutes.
You can get a ticket that allows you to get off at all stops, if you require round-trip, you need to purchase the double-ride pass or 1-day pass.
I decided not to take the beach train as whenever it passed by it looked overcrowded and stuffy. If you can, I would recommend just getting the Busan sky capsule, walking back via the boardwalk and taking in the various sites along the way.
Similar to the sky capsule tickets, Haeundae Sky Train can be booked online in advance or from the ticket kiosks on the day at Mipo, Cheongsapa and Seongjong.
Haeundae Beach Train Vs Sky Capsule

Getting To Busan Sky Capsule From Busan Centre
Most people who visit Busan tend to stay in the centre rather than Haeundae (read here why this is a mistake). The good news is that Busan has excellent transport links that make it super easy to get around no matter where you end up staying, especially with a t-money card.
Mipo Station Address: 13 Dalmagi-gil 62 beon-gil, Haeundae-gu, Busan.
Cheongsapo Station Address: 116 Cheongsapo-ro, Haeundae-gu, Busan.
Getting To Mipo Station From Busan Centre
- Metro: Take the orange line to Seomyeon, transfer to the green line to Jungdowg station, from here it’s a 10-minute walk.
- Bus: 1003 (express) or 1001 from Busan Station.
Getting To Cheongsapo Station From Busan Centre
The best option is to take the 1003 express bus to the Youngnam Apartment stop, from there it is an 18-minute walk to Cheongsapa station.
Are The Sky Capsules Worth It? Our Experience.
Living right beside the Sky Capsule track in Haeundae for 2 months, I watched these colourful capsules glide by almost everyday as I often walked on the boardwalk below. After our frustrating experience with the official booking website (detailed above in Method 1), we opted for same day tickets at Mipo ticket office.
We arrived about an hour before opening and there was no one else waiting for a ticket (May). There weren’t many options so we chose the 12 – 12:30PM slot and walked back to our apartment. For anyone not staying in the area there are many things to do in Haeundae while you wait.

When we arrived at Mipo station at 11:50 we were met with a long queue. They fill each capsule with one group at a time, so wait times depend on party sizes ahead of you. We weren’t in our capsule until 12:25 but the queue was consistently moving.
Once aboard our capsule, I immediately noticed how spacious and comfortable it felt. The large windows open for fresh ocean breeze, and there’s a small centre table perfect for setting down your phone or drink.
The 20-minute journey felt perfectly paced, it is slow enough to snap photos without blur, but engaging enough with changing scenery that we weren’t bored. The elevated track gives you uninterrupted coastal views that you just don’t get from ground level.
If I could do it again I would book 4 weeks in advance and get that sunset slot from either Mipo or Cheonsapo.
What to do near Busan Sky Capsule?
If you are unsure of what to do nearby I have a suggested itinerary below. There is a lot of walking so pack some comfy shoes.
- Explore Cheongsapa: take a walk around Cheongsapa, a small photogenic village. There is a popular photo spot at the crossroads and twin lighthouses.
- Daritdol Sky Walk: 10 minute-walk from Cheongsapa (in the direction of Songjeong) is the Daritdol Observatory. A glass platform with nothing but the crashing waves below. You can then just go back to Cheongsapo and rejoin the greenline trail.
- Cafe Whiterock is a lovely cafe with insanely delicious pastries and views if you need to rest.
- Greenline Trail: It takes approximately 40 minutes (2.6 km) to walk back to Mipo station along the scenic Greenline path. The path is a wooden boardwalk with uninterrupted sea views to your right and the sky capsules/beach train to your left.
- Moontan Road: If you would like to do a little hike then consider taking a detour to Moontan Road, a well-marked trail through a pine forest.

Busan Sky Capsules FAQ
Blueline Park Opening Hours
Blueline Park is opens at 9AM every day. Check out the last train and capsule below.

How do the time slots work?
Time slots are given in 30-minute windows (for example, 11:00-11:30). This is your boarding window, NOT your departure time. You need to arrive during this window and join the queue. The actual capsule might not depart until 11:20 or 11:25 depending on how busy it is.
Important for sunset: If you want to be on the capsule at 7:00 PM sunset, don’t book the 7:00-7:30 slot. Book 6:00-6:30 or even 5:30-6:00 to ensure you’re actually riding during golden hour.
How many people fit in each capsule?
Each capsule holds a maximum of 4 people. The great thing is they never seat you with strangers, you get the entire capsule to yourself even if you’re a party of 2 or 3. This makes the ride feel private and relaxing.
What’s the difference between the Sky Capsule and Beach Train?
The Sky Capsule runs on an elevated track about 2km above ground with private 4-person capsules. The Beach Train is a larger, ground-level train with multiple cars that makes several stops along the route. The Sky Capsule is more intimate and offers better elevated views, while the Beach Train is good for hopping on and off at different beaches.
Is it scary for people afraid of heights?
Not at all. The capsules move very slowly (4 km/hour) on a wide, stable track about 2km above ground. The enclosed capsule and gradual pace make it feel secure. I’m cautious with heights and felt completely comfortable throughout the ride.
Does the sky capsule operate on rainy days?
Yes, the Blueline Park operates both the sky capsules and beach train even when it rains, it only stops during a typhoon.
However, I don’t recommend riding the sky capsules or beach train during a heavy rainy day. This is because in my experience the highlight is in the view, seeing the little capsules ahead surrounded by sea views. Without a clear view I don’t think it’s worth it.
I recommend checking the weather 3 days in advance of your reservation to ensure you get a 100% refund.
- 3 days: 100%
- 2 days: 80%
- 1 day: 70%
- The day of the reservation: 50%
Can you bring food and drinks on the sky capsules?
Yes, you can take drinks and food on both the sky capsule and sky train. There is even a small table inside the sky capsules, surely one of Korea’s most scenic dining tables.
What is the difference between Busan Sky Capsules, Haeundae Blueline Park and Mipo Sky Capsule?
These are all the same place. Haeundae Blueline Park is the official name but the other names are also widely used.
