Portugal is known for their fresh seafood dishes and eggy flakey custard tarts. Lisbon has something for everyone, from Portuguese classics, Tapas to big gastronomical American delights. I have compiled a list of food places I really enjoyed during my 6 weeks there.
Breakfast / Brunch
Dear Breakfast (Amalfi, Bica, Calçada de São Francisco)
Really nice place for some healthy options. I got a Acai bowel which was very filling and not too sweet. My boyfriend got Eggs Benedict and said they were the best he has had!
I went to the one in Bica and there was a 20 minute wait but I promise you it’s worth it!
Basílio (Amalfi)
Such a cool vibe and THE best pancakes I have ever had! Delicious banoffee pancakes with a side of greek yogurt and pomegranate. The sauce tasted of Biscoff.
Food takes a while (30 mins) but they make everything fresh so who can complain.
Break Sé (Amalfa)
Friendly and cozy cafe, the outdoor seating area is also a great photo spot.
I got pancakes with yogurt, blueberries and merengue. It felt very light and not like i just stuffed 3 pancakes into me.
Lunch / Dinner
Crispy Mafya (Principe Real)
Ok my picture just does not do this place any justice (sorry!). I was too busy stuffing my face and forgot to take a good photo. I would check out other photos on their Instagram to see how nice there food actually is.
They have burgers, Korean fried chicken, wings, waffles and some quirky cocktails that pack a real punch !
Carnal Gastrobar Mexicano
Amazing food and atmosphere! It is on the pricey side for Lisbon but I thought it was worth it! I got the pork tacos, so tasty with a nice kick!
Mex Factory (LX Factory)
Cool restaurant that feel authentic with a boxing ring in the middle! There is lots on the menu, I ordered the beef tacos, so juicy and filling. Cocktails are also so strong!
Trobadores – Taberna Medieval (Baixa Chiado)
Eating here feels like stepping into a pub in Game of Thrones. As the name suggests the bar has a medieval theme along with a tapas menu inspired by this time. I would highly recommend the flaming chorizo.
Ponto Final (Almada)
This is more than a restaurant it’s an experience (cringey statement, I know!). Your table and chair are perched on the edge of a pier with no barrier so be careful when getting up. They have lots on the menu, I got the Octopus salad which was light but packed with flavour.
Other places I recommend
Dutch Treat – All the Dutch classics (Google maps link)
Beers (LX Factory) – a Gastropub that does REALLY good flaming chorizo (Google maps link)
Maruto (Alfama) – affordable Tapas, the goats cheese and honey bruschetta is perfect! (Google maps link)
Portelo – Really nice pastries, many in Lisbon
