We’ve all been in that situation before—checking out of our accommodation early with a long wait until our flight departs. The temptation to spend leftover trip money on junk food and alcohol at the airport can be strong due to boredom. I experienced a similar scenario in December 2022 at Zagreb airport while coming home after visiting the Christmas markets. You can read about that here. With icy weather causing flight delays, I found myself with an eleven-hour wait until my flight to Dublin. In search of a more comfortable and enjoyable experience, I decided to inquire about accessing the primeclass lounge in Zagreb airport. Although I did not have a credit card that included lounge access, the lady on the desk offered me entry for €40 — a reasonable price considering the alternatives. it is also a part of the priority pass programme. Zagreb’s primeclass airport lounge, located opposite gate 23, initially seemed busy with passengers heading to the World Cup in Doha. However, once their flight departed, the lounge was relatively quiet, with only a few other passengers.
Inside the Zagreb Primeclass Lounge
Stepping into the Zagreb primeclass airport lounge for the first time left me pleasantly surprised by the amenities it offered. The lounge had a cozy and spacious ambiance, with a relaxing vibe throughout. The interior was tastefully designed, featuring predominantly wooden elements and black leather chairs. It was also equipped with reliable and fast Wi-Fi along with reclining leather chairs. Additionally, the lounge provided convenient amenities such as computers, charging ports, and a television, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Food & Beverages
The lounge offers a variety of food options. A self-serve counter presented an array of finger foods such as small sandwiches, sausage rolls, and pastries. The fridge was stocked with a selection of mini desserts and fruit.A nifty pancake machine churned out mini pancakes topped with Nutella. In the evening, they even provided grilled chicken topped with cheese alongside fries. While the quality was not exceptional, it was certainly passable and surpassed many airport meal I’ve had. However, the mini bar was the standout star, offering a selection of beverages like Heineken, premium spirits, Coke, Sprite, water, tea, and coffee.
Bathroom
The bathroom is very nice and clean, unfortunately there are no showers which I understand other airport lounges have this as a facility.
So is the primeclass lounge worth it?
I was delighted with my experience in Zagreb’s Prime Class airport lounge. Being there all day, I would have otherwise spent a significant amount of money at the airport’s bars and restaurants just to pass the time. Comfort holds great value for me, and I firmly believe in treating yourself. Why endure an uncomfortable chair in a noisy & busy gate when I could relax in a quiet environment until my flight?
For those with ample time to spare at Zagreb airport, enjoy pre-flight drinks and are content with pre-packaged food options, this lounge is a perfect choice. The availability of unlimited water proved highly beneficial for me, as I drink a lot of water and often find I am thirsty while traveling. Considering the high cost of water bottles at the airport, I usually limit my purchase to one 500ml bottle. On top of that, I discreetly pocketed a few extra bottles for the four-hour flight ahead! It’s the small things !
