Tokyo Travel Guide
T O K Y O
No Japan itinerary is complete without a trip to its mega city Tokyo. Neon lights, quirky fashion, fun cafes, cosy izakayas and delicious food.
Tokyo was the 4th city I visited in Japan, it was one of the last places on our itinerary. The magnitude of Tokyo hits you instantly, there are people everywhere and the undergrounds are mini cities themselves but the streets remain quiet. I remember walking around Shinjuku Gyoen Gardens, a vast park in one of Tokyo’s busiest areas, surrounded by skyscrapers and traffic, you couldn’t hear a thing. It was so peaceful. Tokyo is just one big contradiction super modern yet still pretty old school, the most populous city in the world yet one of the quietest, the skyline is stacked with skyscrapers but the number of parks makes it one of the greenest cities I have visited.
If you are planning a trip to Tokyo then check out my detailed posts on this awesome city along with a few helpful tips and recommended experiences to ensure you have a memorable Tokyo trip.
Tokyo is one of four cities I cover in my full Japan travel guide, if you are still in the planning stages of your trip, that is a good place to start.

How Many Days In Tokyo?
At least 5 days to see the main attractions in Tokyo, more days allow you to take day trips to Mount Fuji or Kamakura. It is just such a big city that you would need years here to see it all.
My advice is don’t rush it, don’t cut your trip here short to squeeze in another city, give it the time it deserves, there is no place quite like it.
